Types Of Masssage

What is Sports Massage Therapy?

Sports Massage is ideal to treat small injuries as well as preventing further injury and muscular compensation, dealing with the health of muscle and connective tissue. Sports Massage is tailored specifically to the athlete's chosen sport and condition they are in - every body is different. It is a treatment that will benefit the athlete in ways such as increased range of movement, balance of muscle and quality of posture which may be affecting muscle tone and symmetry.

What is Deep Tissue Massage Therapy (DTM)?

Deep tissue massage therapy is similar to Swedish massage, but the deeper pressure is beneficial in releasing chronic muscle tension. This type of Massage focuses on breaking up adhesions in the muscle tissues, tendons and fascia (connective tissue). DTM releases muscle tension in overworking muscle groups and can help strengthen weaker muscle groups that are not working properly.

What is Myofascial Release?

Fascia is the biological fabric, the fibrous connective tissue that holds us together. Think about wearing a simple tee shirt..if you pull on the fabric in any direction, the other fibers will follow. Imagine that tee shirt was drenched in super glue & try to pull the fabric again. Notice the fibers are immobile..stuck together..the opposite of "breathable." By releasing the fascia there is an increase in blood flow and range of movement and encourages more depth when treating the muscles.

What is Scar Tissue Release?

Scar tissue release involves specific techniques, including fascial stretching and friction, that helps to open up blood flow to the adhesive connective tissue to increase range of movement and mobility. It is slow work to get the most beneficial amount of circulation to the scar. It is common for people to hold a mental connection with the scar, and can occasionally bring an emotional release.

What is relaxation Massage?

In a Relaxation Massage you can expect long smooth gliding strokes that are rhythmic and flowing. The pressure is deeply relaxing, but not painful. It is treatment that is designed to soothe and relax you, not to relieve chronic pain or other underlying ailments. Relaxation Massage is a treatment in itself in terms of easing stress, muscle tension release, reduction in depression, anxiety and anger as well as improved sleep.
